Your JourneyMakers Host will meet you at your Vancouver Hotel with a pre-arranged rental vehicle. After a thorough orientation you will board a BC Car Ferry for an awesome trip through the picturesque Gulf Islands. You disembark on Vancouver Island and make your way to Cowichan Lake. On the way you may decide to do some sightseeing in historic Victoria.
You will be staying at the Cowichan Wilderness River Lodge, an exquisite log construction lodge, nestled in 16 acres of nature overlooking the banks of the Cowichan River. Observe Bald eagles fishing for Salmon. Watch from the patio as river otters play in their natural habitat, or stroll some of the river and forest trails.
Each day you will set out with a certified instructor/guide to drift sections of the magnificent Cowichan River. Depending on the time of year, you will be fishing gravel bars and pools, and drift fishing for migrating Salmon (September to November) and Steelhead (October to March), as well as Brown and Rainbow trout (year round).
When river level conditions are favorable, you may opt for a very special trip to the Nitinat River in the old growth rainforest on the west coast of Vancouver Island, where in late Fall, King Salmon up to 60lbs+ have been caught on a fly.
The surrounding Cowichan Valley has often been compared to Provence in France with its gently rolling countryside, vineyards, cheese making, and hospitable locals. Your hosts, the Cuthberts, are always delighted to help you discover this lost-in-time area.
You will fly from Victoria for your return to Vancouver and stay overnight at the 5-diamond Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel. This exclusive hotel is located directly above the US departure level. You will have time for a civilized breakfast the following morning before taking the hotel elevator to board your return flight.
Your package cost of $3095 per couple includes your return airfare to Vancouver Island, your rental car and insurance, all meals and accommodation, 3 days of guided fishing, all fishing equipment and your freshwater fishing license.
Deposit details: A $500 deposit is required per person to confirm your booking and full payment is required 75 days prior to your trip date.
